Who We Are?
The Auction has been operating in Timaru as registered auctioneers since 2006. We are a general auction house offering a wide range of goods from antiques & collectables, all manner of vehicles (cars, boats, motorbikes, caravans & even diggers) whiteware, camping, commercial, along with a full range of house hold furniture, every type of gardening & workshop tools and so much more.
We deal with estates, people moving over-seas or downsizing their home, as well as on-site auctions for business or commercial situations, whatever the situation may need.
Our weekly auctions have an average of 500-600+ lots per week on our floor. The auction starts each Thursday at 12 noon.
Monday, Tuesday & Friday's are our inward goods days, this means if you have 1 item or a trailer full, bring it down to us on those days, and we will have a look at it. Please don't be offended if we say we can't sell some things. We know what sells and what has no value.
Wednesday and Thursday (before the auction start) is our viewing day, where you can view/feel and test what we have on offer. We do strongly recommend that you come down and look over the item/s before bidding to satisfy yourself.
Back in 2006, Craig & Pete brought an existing auction house, and from January 2014 Craig is now the sole owner of the business.
We are a small team, and we work well together, offering a wide range of knowledge and experience. We are very approachable and friendly, so don't be afraid to ask us any question about what we have on the floor.
About us
Craig
Has over 11 years-experience (2003-) in the auction field, and grew up with antique furniture being the normal household furniture. Over his 50 years he has gained a wide range of knowledge and experiences.
The Auction Calculator program, which is used in our daily business was written by Craig, and is under ongoing development to enhance it, along with several other software packages.
Grant
Has a simple history that most good old-fashioned Kiwi blokes can relate to. Hunting, fishing, adventure, No.8 wire.
This is his third stint in the auction industry (twice with us) gaining valuable experience with a former auction house. Learning his trade as a cabinetmaker he developed an appreciation of quality, which follows through to his work ethic on the auction floor.
Very much family & people orientated.
Craig - the younger one
This is Craig's second stint with The Auction. Craig has a wide range of experiences that he brings to the team, and is very approachable and friendly.
Jo
Our newest member of The Auction team, and is our point of contact in the office for Thursday's for our customers.
